School Exclusion (Texas)

Texas is big and varied: exclusionary discipline practices differ across districts and regions. This page tracks suspensions/expulsions and notes connections to juvenile complaints and reentry.

What We Track

  • Out-of-school suspensions and expulsions per 1,000 students (2015–2025)
  • Differences across urban/suburban/rural districts and ESC regions
  • Disparities by race/ethnicity and disability status
  • Links to justice involvement and school re-engagement after exclusion

Methods

Rates are normalized by enrolled student counts. Small-n cells are pooled across 2–3 years and annotated. When reporting definitions change, we mark breaks in series to keep trendlines honest.
